Almost everyone who comes to Peru comes to see Machu Picchu. This remarkably well-preserved Inca citadel and World Heritage Site is simply a must-see for any visitor to South America, and there is no better way of seeing it than following in the steps of the Incas and walking there along the ‘Royal Inca Trail’.

While younger children would find the full four day trek hard going, it is possible to start the trail at ‘KM104’ and walk for just one day along the final, most beautiful section of the Inca Trail. Walk as a family through tropical cloud forest, passing ancient Inca ruins full of orchids and swallows until you reach the famous Sun Gate. At this important Inca gateway you’ll have a perfect view of Machu Picchu that will take your breath away. You can stay the night at Machu Picchu Town and then return to the site the next day for a full tour.

All the excitement of the Inca Trail but none of the hassle, this two day trip to Machu Picchu will keep everyone happy.
